Denim Day - Support a Survivor! Wear Denim on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018

Denim Day Sign Denim Day is an annual campaign to prevent sexual violence through education and public awareness that culminates on a Wednesday during Sexual Assault Awareness Month each April. It began in Italy in the 1990s when women legislators wore jeans to protest a Supreme Court verdict overturning a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. In April 1999, a social service agency in Los Angeles established the first Denim Day in the United States, and in 2011 a local survivor established Denim Day Milwaukee.

Denim Day 2018 is April 25th, a day when community members, survivors, caregivers, students, elected officials, and businesses wear denim as a visible statement in support of survivors and against misconceptions about sexual assault.

Even better, this year our LunaFest event is held on Denim Day itself! So wear your jeans to the movies and stand for survivors!
