SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION EDUCATOR (SPANISH SPEAKING REQUIRED)

Nonexempt person~40 hours per week

Hiring Range: $21.90- $26.76 per hour

General Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Director of Sexual Assault Services, the Prevention Educator is responsible for providing sexual assault prevention education in middle schools, high schools, junior colleges, and throughout the community. This role aims to create a safer, more informed community by educating relationships, consent, and violence prevention strategies. This prevention program will focus on adolescents and the Latinx community. The Prevention Educator collaborates with school administrators, community organizations, and parents to deliver age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and trauma-informed programming.

General Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or related experience.  Minimum of two years’ experience working in the nonprofit sector, supporting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Previous experience providing prevention education a plus. Bilingual (Spanish/English) Required. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish to deliver programs to Spanish-speaking audiences. Strong public speaking skills with the ability to present sensitive topics to a variety of age groups and cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, gender-based violence prevention, and youth engagement strategies. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or emotionally charged situations with empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with virtual presentation platforms (e.g., Zoom) is preferred. Completion of Agency Training within 6 months of employment (if not before).

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. SCHOOL-BASED EDUCATION
    1. Develop and deliver sexual assault, domestic violence, and healthy relationship prevention programs to students in middle schools, high schools, and junior colleges.
    2. Use interactive, evidence-based curricula to engage students on topics such as consent, boundaries, safe bystander intervention, and digital safety.
    3. Adapt presentations to be culturally and age-appropriate, taking into consideration diverse student backgrounds and varying community needs.
    4. Conduct assessments of educational effectiveness and make curriculum adjustments as needed.
    5. Build and maintain positive relationships with school personnel to ensure program success and sustainability.
  2. COMMUNITY, OUTREACH & EDUCATION
    1. Facilitate workshops, presentations, and community events for youth groups, parents, and community organizations focused on understanding, identifying, and preventing sexual violence and domestic abuse.
    2. Raise awareness of local resources and services for survivors, as well as preventative measures to address intimate partner violence and sexual harassment.
    3. Actively engage in outreach to expand program reach and foster partnerships with other local organizations.
  3. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION
    1. Assist in the development, improvement, and adaptation of prevention program curricula and outreach materials in both English and Spanish.
    2. Track program attendance and collect data on participant feedback and knowledge gained. Enter statistics into the agency database.
    3. Generate reports on program activities, outcomes, and community impact for internal records and grant requirements.
  4. ADVOCACY & COLLABORATION
    1. Work collaboratively with other staff members to support community events, campaigns, and awareness initiatives for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and other relevant observances.
    2. Provide guidance and resources to school counselors, teachers, and parents seeking further support for students impacted by sexual assault or domestic violence.
    3. Attending staff meetings, professional development, and training to stay informed on best practices and current research in violence prevention and education.

  3. Must have a valid California driver’s license and an insured automobile that employee can use as necessary for agency related business, including transportation of clients.
  4. Must maintain a good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to drive for the agency.
