Shiloh – A Safe Shelter

Need of the hour

One of Tri-Valley Haven’s most important service is our emergency shelter for families fleeing abuse in their homes. TRI-VALLEY HAVEN’s Domestic Violence Shelter, aptly named SHILOH, for peace, has been a vital community resource for decades, sheltering thousands of local survivors and their children fleeing abuse, while they heal.

After many years of housing families, the current shelter is falling apart.

We need your help to rebuild the Haven’s shelter so local families in crisis will have a safe place to call home for decades to come.

With a cost of 9.4 million, we are now turning to our community to help raise the final $1.5 million needed to bring this vital project to the finish line.

“Everything you did for my family while we stayed at the shelter pushed me to finally break away [from my abuser]. Finally, my kids and I are safe. We live in peace! My sons are not growing up thinking domestic violence is normal. I am so grateful to Tri-Valley Haven. It saved my life. Now I share my story and advocate for survivors of domestic violence.”

“Patricia” is a recent graduate of Shiloh. She and her children received counseling, case management and life skills classes.

A Letter to Our Friends

Dear Friends,

One of Tri-Valley Haven’s most essential services is our confidential emergency shelter for families fleeing abuse. For nearly 50 years, Tri-Valley Haven has been a place of safety, hope, and healing. One of our most essential services is Shiloh, our emergency domestic violence shelter, the only confidential DV shelter in our area, and the only one that welcomes teenage boys as part of families.

After decades of protecting families in crisis, our original shelter had reached the end of its life and had to be demolished. Currently, we’re rebuilding a stronger, safer haven for the next generation. This $9.4 million project is well underway, and we have just $1.4 million left to raise before we can open the doors.

With your help, we will cross the finish line.

Please make your tax-deductible donation today by selecting Shelter Rebuild on our donation page. Every dollar counts and will help local survivors, children and families for decades to come.

Donations can be made HERE.

If you have questions or would like to meet with me personally to learn more about this critical project, I can be reached at christine@trivalleyhaven.org or (925) 667-2707.

Thank you for your generosity and for being a partner in building a stronger, safer future for local survivors and their families.

With gratitude,

Christine Dillman
Executive Director

Support the Rebuild Efforts

At any time, half of the shelter residents are children. By expanding the shelter capacity to 45 beds, from 30, this new shelter will help 50% more households, individuals and children to flourish and attain self-sufficiency. Dedicated play areas for children, groups, therapy rooms and a quiet room for reflection will be added.

At Shiloh, survivors heal and learn valuable skills such as budgeting, resume writing, nutrition management, parenting and self-esteem classes.  Over time, families become self-sufficient and no longer need the shelter. In the past decade  Tri-Valley Haven  has helped over 3,000 individuals and families in finding safe homes, free from violence.

With the generous support from people like you, we can build a new shelter. Shiloh will continue to be an integral part of Livermore, the Tri-Valley Area, and Alameda County. For decades to come, we will compassionately shelter thousands of individuals and families, breaking the cycle of domestic abuse.

“Our family wants to make a difference for families dealing with abuse. We know there are many obstacles they have to face, but Tri-Valley Haven has a profound positive influence on a person’s life.”
