Hiring Range: $23.15 – $28.29 per hour
(5% pay differential for fluent Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, or Tagalog bilingual language skills)
General Responsibilities: This position is funded through CALOES TBRA (Tenant Based Rental Assistance) and
DVHF (Domestic Violence Housing First) funds. Directly reports to Tri-Valley Haven’s Housing Coordinator, in
the Domestic Violence Services Department. The Housing Specialist works closely with our DV Shelter &
Transitional Housing Team. Fosters and maintains relationships with local property owners, connects clients to
emergency motel lodging, creates listings of housing programs and services, assesses risk for domestic violence
and works with survivors to match them to appropriate housing & services for self-sustainability. This position
advocates for survivors of domestic violence and homelessness with local landlords. Arranges maintenance
services required for housing safety upgrades, such as smoke alarms, locks, cameras, secure doors, etc.
General Requirements: Minimum of one year of work experience with non-profit organizations in assisting
clients experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, and housing instability. College education preferred. HQS
certification required within the first 3 months of employment.

I. RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Work with survivors of domestic violence and homelessness to help them acquire and maintain safe housing.
B. Assess the client’s safety in their current living situation with them, as well as their ability to self sustain in longer term rental housing; create housing plans with clients. Work with affordable housing programs to help clients obtain housing.
C. Acquire and maintain HQS certification.
D. Keep clients apprised of potential housing opportunities.
E. Maintain up-to-date client and service record information on client database; Generate reports for funding sources, monitoring, and evaluation purposes. Protect confidential client information.
Maintain required documentation in manual client files. Regularly upload client data to the TVH database server.
F. Share client information with fellow agency staff, on a limited, structured basis in line with Tri-Valley Haven’s policies & procedures, to facilitate clients’ housing search.
G. Maintain client contact and provide visitations as needed until clients are successfully in safe housing.
H. Record all client interactions in daily log to keep information up to date.
I. Develop and maintain resource list of property owners who are willing to work with TVH program clients.

II. GENERAL TASKS
A. Make community presentations/conduct outreach to represent Tri-Valley Haven.
B. Attending staff meetings, and case management supervision.
C. Participate in community and special events as needed.
D. Have a valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance that employee may use for agency related business, including transportation of clients.
E. Support Domestic Violence Team with Crisis Line and Quarterly Back-up.
F. Report hours worked and submit timesheets as required.

III. OTHER TASKS AS ASSIGNED BY THE HOUSING COORDINATOR, DIRECTOR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES AND/OR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WITHIN THE SCOPE OF TRI-VALLEY HAVEN’S MISSION.
