Tri-Valley Haven is committed to preventing violence in our communities through education, workshops, and outreach. By equipping individuals with knowledge and resources, we aim to foster healthy relationships and increase awareness of sexual and domestic violence. Prevention education plays a crucial role in reducing the likelihood of violence by promoting supportive environments, respectful behaviors, and open conversations. Through proactive community engagement, we empower individuals to set boundaries, build positive connections, and feel safe in their relationships.

Prevention Programs and Services

Starting in Summer 2025, our Prevention Team will offer workshops and training for community members. These sessions will focus on:

    •  Teachers: Creating supportive school environments.
    •  Parents: Having conversations with their children about healthy relationships.
    •  Teens: Becoming peer advocates in their schools.

School Prevention Services

At Tri-Valley Haven, we provide students with the knowledge and skills to build healthy relationships and prevent violence. Our interactive, age-appropriate presentations engage students, helping them recognize harmful behaviors and develop essential skills for navigating relationships.

Middle School (6th - 8th Grade)

Our presentations help younger students understand friendships and relationships while developing communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Topics We Cover:

    •  Different types of relationships (friends, family, romantic, etc.)
    • Recognizing unhealthy healthy traits in relationships
    • Understanding and addressing bullying
    • Effective communication styles (aggressive assertive)
    • Setting boundaries and practicing consent
    • Bystander intervention and listening skills
    • Resolving conflicts and practicing empathy
    • Developing self-care routines and positive self-talk

Healthy Relationships

This interactive presentation helps students recognize unhealthy relationship patterns, understand the cycle of violence, and develop healthy communication skills.

  • Warning signs of unhealthy relationships
  • Risks and outcomes of teen dating violence
  • Understanding sexual violence and safety planning
  • Traits of healthy relationships
  • Setting boundaries and practicing consent

  • Managing negative emotions

Human Trafficking Awareness

This session raises awareness of human trafficking, teaching students how to recognize signs, stay safe, and seek help. We approach this sensitive topic with care, incorporating check-ins to support student well-being.

Topics Covered:

  • Types of human trafficking
  • Tactics used by traffickers: force, fraud, and coercion
  • Roles in human trafficking and risk factors
  • Grooming as a trust-building process
  • Internet safety and recognizing online recruitment
  • Bystander intervention and warning signs
  • Creating a safety plan
